COURSE DESCRIPTION
The grade 5 English course builds on the techniques and skills from grade 4 English. Explore familiar topics with greater difficulty:
1 – Oral Communication
2 – Reading
3 – Writing
4 – Media Literacy
Identify a range of purposes for listening in a variety of situations, formal and informal, and set goals related to specific listening tasks. Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate listening behavior by adapting active listening strategies to suit a range of situations, including work in groups. Read a variety of texts from diverse cultures, including literary texts. Students will also identify the topic, purpose, and audience for a variety of writing forms. gather information to support ideas for writing, using a variety of strategies and a range of print and electronic resources.
