COURSE DESCRIPTION
The grade 3 English course develops techniques introduced from grade 2 English. Students are challenged to explore new ideas and information and more complex and technical topics, and that may require more interpretation and inference.

4 – Media Literacy
Identify purposes for listening in a variety of situations, formal and informal, and set personal goals related to listening tasks. Identify a variety of purposes for reading and choose reading materials appropriate for those purposes. Identify the topic, purpose, audience, and form for writing, and gather information to support ideas for writing in a variety of ways and/or from a variety of sources. Identify the purpose and intended audience of some media texts, use overt and implied messages to draw inferences and make meaning in simple media texts, and express personal opinions about ideas presented in media texts.
